Van Bulck is a tribute to their mother Liesbeth Van Bulck. Being related to a famous brewer from Watou, she inherited her godfather’s love for the Belgian beer culture. At that time her parents had a hotel-restaurant in Westende, so she soon got the taste for it. She graduated as a cook and received a sommelier training. For forty years, she ran two succesful restaurants on the Belgian coast. The philosophy of the family business was to work with high-quality fresh products at all times.
Long before organic was a well-known concept, Liesbeth insisted on using only the very best ingredients in her restaurant. On the menu you would only find organic meat from the local butcher for instance. With Van Bulck Beers, Denis and Maxim are continuing the life’s work of their parents.
Our beers are brewed according to traditional methods with certified organic ingredients and meet the necessary standards to carry the European Union (EU) logo for organic products. This means that at least 95 percent of the ingredients are organically produced. The hop and barley are cultivated without synthetic plant protection products or chemical fertilizers. The fruit and herbs used during the brewing process, meet the same strict requirements.
